Wednesday Night Sailing
Wednesday night sailing is the most social sailing on the PYC calendar. It takes place during the summer months from late October to the end of March. During these months the extended day light hours allow for a start at 17h30 and a finish at about 19h00. This sailing is mainly for the keel boat class and most skippers take guests and other non-sailors for a pleasant cruise around the confines of the bay, so it's all flat water sailing, with the use of spinnakers being banned on the cruising course. For the more serious sailors, with a need for speed, a separate racing course is set and spinnakers are allowed to be flown on this course. After racing the fleet descends on "The Anchorage" for some liquid and solid refreshments and a prize giving and the party generally carries on to the early hours for the 'party animals' in the fleet.
So once again, what ever your pleasure in the world of sailing, you'll be at home at the Point Yacht Club on a Wednesday evening! For more information phone 031 3014787 or e mail pyc2@telkomsa.net
